Bordering Scotland, Cumbria is a ceremonial county in Northwest England that is also one of the northernmost regions of England. Dating back to the Neolithic Age, the county abounds with artifacts such as monoliths and stone circles. Further archeological remnants come from the Romans, who built a number of fortifications in the area during their occupation, the most famous being the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hadrian's Wall, which passes through the northern part of Cumbria. Today, the area is considered the “Adventure Capital” of England, known for the Sea-to-Sea (C2C) bike paths and the tallest mountains in England.
