• Experience the verdant hiking trails that wind throughout Flanders Nature Center. The Flanders Nature Center was originally created by Natalie Van Vleck during the 1960s, who wished to conserve the beautiful natural ecosystem that surrounded Woodbury. Today, guests can participate in exciting educational programs about the area’s natural history at the renovated Van Vleck farmhouse.

• Tour the Mattatuck Museum in nearby Waterbury. Originally established as the Waterbury Historical Society in the 19th century, this outstanding cultural institution has since become one of the major destinations for art lovers in central Connecticut. The ground floor of the museum also has a massive permanent exhibit detailing the intricate history of Waterbury from its founding centuries ago to the present.

• Attend a thrilling theatrical performance at the Warner Theater in neighboring Torrington. Built by Warner Brothers Studios at the start of the Great Depression, this historic structure has been described by many across Connecticut as the state’s most awe-inspiring theater.
