Discover the Great Southern Killarney, which was first created by the Great Southern and Western Railway Company in 1854.

Garden Room Restaurant
As the culinary pinnacle at the Great Southern, this iconic Victorian restaurant is famed for its magnificent gilt domed ceiling and gourmet cuisine. Guests can enjoy warm baked bread while the sommelier presents the perfect bottle from the extensive wine cellar. Diners may choose from a menu of traditional recipes, artfully prepared with a modern twist. Local specialties fully traceable to Kerry farmers are highlighted on the menu, including Killorglin Gouda cheese, locally smoked ham, native seafood, Killarney honey, and local beef and pork.

Brownes – The Bar
Brownes is the hotel's signature bar and locally renowned meeting point. The inspiration for Brownes Bar came from the Browne Family who in 1853 supplied the land upon which Great Southern Killarney's was built. Guests will want to stay a while in this welcoming place with two blazing fires, comfortable sofas, and expert, friendly service. This bar is an ideal place to sip a local brew, meet new people, and choose from a menu of traditional and contemporary food. Sample a wide variety of beverages, cocktails, and local specialties, too. In fact, Brownes' Whiskey Corner has collection of over 190 of the world's finest whiskies.

Afternoon Tea
The Great Southern Killarney also features the time-honored experience of afternoon tea in the luxurious atmosphere of the Grand Foyer, or in the plush privacy of The Reading Room Residents' Lounge. Guests can savor dainty finger and open sandwiches, warm scones with preserves and cream, and an assortment of pastries and cakes, all served with freshly brewed tea and coffee. Champagne Afternoon Tea is also available for an occasion with additional sparkle.
