Experience the Pettigru Street Historic District, located to the east of the downtown area and containing 88 distinct structures, the majority of which were built between 1910 and 1930. The area is unique in the city for its evolution of styles, from the Victorian era to the early 1930s. Because of the wide variety of architecture, the vast neighborhood was nominated to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1981. It is also the largest historic district in the city.
