- Discover the history of La Casa Del Zorro Desert Resort & Spa since its popularity rose in the early 1930s and quickly became one of Southern California’s most popular destinations. At the time, hundreds of people journeyed from the beaches of San Diego into the desert, to view and see the spectacular terrain of the region. The opening of Anza-Borrego State Park made the area a tourist destination, and it grew in popularity with visitors awe-struck by rare desert wildlife, geography, and the open desert sky. Borrego Springs became a hot spot for tourists and in 1937, La Casa Del Zorro Resort & Spa opened its doors.

His legacy and impact are honored today with the Anza-Borrego State Park as his namesake.
- Gaze upon the Spanish Colonial Revival- style architecture, also known as “Spanish Eclectic,” at La Casa Del Zorro Desert Resort & Spa. When Noel Crickmer, who managed the hotel and designed it, first began putting the plan together, he chose this design as a nod to the historical significance of the region. This architectural design is seen throughout early Spanish colonial settlements. The layout features a central courtyard and stucco walls, an architectural technique adapted to withstand Latin American climate.
