Sommerro offers a universe of health and wellness amenities. From top to bottom of this refurbished former headquarters for Oslo Lysverker, the city’s original electrical company, the building is filled with relaxation opportunities. Vestkantbadet, the building’s original public bath from 1932, has been brought back to its former glory and enhanced with a stunning mural by Per Krohg.
On the rooftop terrace is an intimate wellness oasis boasting stunning views of Oslo in every direction.Unwind in true Norwegian fashion with a rooftop heated pool, sunbeds, and a sauna with a large window facing the terrace.
The lower floor of Sommerro is where guests will be treated to an expansive spa facility in an atmosphere reminiscent of the Jazz Age. With 15,000 sq ft, Vestkantbadet features eight treatment rooms, the site’s original Roman baths converted to a cold plunge pool and infrared sauna area, a fitness center, and an Art Deco-inspired lap pool. Swimmers will marvel at the pool wall showcasing an original mosaic by celebrated Norwegian artist Per Krohg, entitled “Swimming Women and Seals.”
In addition, the original walls of the bathtub rooms from 1932 have been rehabilitated, preserving the original blue tiles. These Express rooms provide spa guests with beauty and wellness treatments for the face and nails. Unique health-boosting treatments at Vestkantbadet include an Aufguss ritual—a multi-sensory experience inside a sauna with heat, essential oils, and music. Vestkantbadet forms an essential part of Sommerro’s 8-hour-rule; a daily balance should include 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of work, and 8 hours of recreation.
