• Explore the historic Tour Royale nearby. The Tour Royale is a fort that was built in the 16th century to protect Toulon’s bustling port city. The fortress today is now a popular museum, and is one of the city’s most iconic historic structures.
• Visit the Place de la Liberté in downtown Toulon. Constructed in 1852 by brothers Gaudensi and André-Joseph Allar, the Place de la Liberté is the main public square in the city. A marvelous fountain (known as The Fountain of the Federation) sits at its center.
• Travel to Fort de Balaguier. This fascinating historic landmark is a 17th-century fort that currently houses several local history exhibits, as well as various model boats. It even features a gorgeous botanical garden.
