The original property opened in 1845. A member of Historic Hotels Worldwide since 2011.
Originally built in 1845 as the Pihls Pensjonat, Engø Gård Hotel and Restaurant was managed by several unique characters over the course of its history. The inn subsequently became a luxurious wilderness retreat, which attracted the likes of countless European luminaries. Closed during the Second World War, the location did not fully become a vacation getaway again until 1983 when Nina Felling and Harald Andersen acquired the structure. Reopened as the Engø Gård Hotel and Restaurant during the early 2000s, the location has been a popular holiday destination out in the Norwegian countryside ever since. The Engø Gård Hotel and Restaurant resides at the bottom of a lush, verdant hillock along the pastoral road of Engveien. Just a short distance from the rustic communities of Ormelet and Hvasser, the Engøveien takes visitors on a terrific tour of the surrounding landscape. Breathtaking views of the majestic Oslofjord abound throughout the thoroughfare, as well as in the city of Sandefjord along the neighboring coastline.
