Explore the spectacular home of Henry Mercer by taking a trip to Fonthill Castle. The castle was built between 1908-1912 and belonged to Henry Mercer (1856-1930) an archaeologist, anthropologist, ceramicist, scholar and antiquarian. Mercer built the Castle as his home and showplace for his collections of tiles and prints. Upon his death in 1930, Mercer left his concrete “Castle for the New World” in a trust as a museum of decorative tiles and prints. Today guests can walk around the castle and explore the grounds and museum.
