Head over to the Dallas Zoo, which has come a long way from its original 1888 setup of two deer and two mountain lions. Now more than 2,000 animals thrive in such habitats as Giants of the Savanna, the Simmons Hippo Outpost, and Wonders of the Wild.

Stroll down to the Dallas Arts District with multiple museums, including the Dallas Museum of Art, performing art venues, theatres, and much more. Another five-minute drive brings visitors to the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, which offers historical context for the events that happened after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
