The Lancaster Hotel is the longest continually operated hotel in Houston and was designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1984. Built by Michele DeGeorge in 1926, the former Auditorium Hotel was designed by architect Joseph Finger. Originally serving business travelers, theatrical artists, rodeo performers, wrestlers, and boxers, in 1982 the hotel was renovated and rebranded as the English-style Lancaster Hotel. After a renovation in 2013, the hotel has new interior design echoing classic American and transitional style. Framed posters from the Symphony, Grand Opera, Ballet, Alley Theatre, and Cinema Arts decorate the bedrooms. Historic photos and old maps are on the mezzanine.
Experience the Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, Alley Theatre, the Houston Grand Opera, and the Revention Music Center just steps away.
