• Experience the artifacts that are on dislay at the adjacent Johann Fust Library. The collection includes a leaf from the Gutenberg Bible printed in 1454, the first book printed with movable type, on a printing press financed by Johann Fust. Also available to view are framed pages from the Ship of Fools published in 1570 and The Book of the Dead from the 1st century B.C.

• Hop on a bike and check out the Boca Grande Bike Path, part of Florida’s Rails-to-Trails project, utilizing the historic railroad right-of-way that carried phosphate to the southern tip of Gasparilla Island a century ago. These days, many visitors come to the island to spend the day cruising along the bike trail that meanders for six miles, with breathtaking vistas at nearly every bend.

• Spend some time with a line in the water and see what the sea has to offer. Boca Grande is known as the “Tarpon Fishing Capital of the World” and also offers excellent sport fishing year-round.
