Some of America's most quintessential cuisines have roots in the Lone Star State, like barbecued beef, which can be credited to Texas's longstanding cattle farming heritage and barbacoa-style cooking inherited from Mexico, and the vibrant flavors of Tex-Mex, which was originated by Texans of Mexican descent known as Tejanos. Guests can sample this culinary heritage for themselves at the newest restaurant to open at the Crockett Hotel, Crockett Tavern, as well as its grab-and-go café, the Alamo Plaza Coffee Bar.
Crockett Tavern
Nothing says Texas like smoky, saucy barbecue—except for possibly dining on this Lone Star State favorite while gazing out over the Alamo. That is exactly what is in store for guests at Crockett Tavern, the Crockett Hotel's newest restaurant. Here, guests can dine on smoke-kissed barbecue, ribeye steaks, Tex-Mex tacos, and local, line-caught fish from the Gulf of Mexico, all while listening to live country music and sipping on some Texan craft beer or a whiskey cocktail. The restaurant design itself also offers a true taste of Texas, with antiques, cowboy lassos, and animal mounts lining the walls. The eatery's central feature is the "Old Texas Bar," which offers locally distilled bourbons, spirits, and craft beers. Crockett Tavern is open for lunch, dinner, and drinks from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Sunday to Thursday and from 11:00 AM to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Alamo Plaza Coffee Bar
There is no better way to greet the morning in San Antonio than with a delicious breakfast burrito, especially if there is brisket or chorizo involved. Guests of the Crockett Hotel can enjoy this Tex-Mex classic alongside a refreshing coffee beverage at Alamo Plaza Coffee Bar, the hotel's grab-and-go café located just off the lobby. Along with wraps, sandwiches, and coffee, a selection of muffins and other baked goods are also available, as are tea and caffeinated Crockett Coolers. Or, start the day with a bang with a spiked coffee drink. The Alamo Plaza Coffee Bar is open daily from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
