Enjoy a meal in a piece of literary history at The Algonquin Hotel, which was once the home of the Algonquin Round Table.
The Algonquin Cocktail
The Algonquin Cocktail
The Algonquin Hotel Times Square, Autograph Collection has been a landmark New York City dining destination ever since the “Vicious Circle” ruled over the former Rose Room. Their daily Algonquin Round Table luncheons in the Roaring 20s and Broadway icons shared cocktails and conversation at the Blue Bar following its post-Prohibition debut. Although they may be located in a different part of the hotel or look a bit different, those famed culinary experiences remain to this day, offering the perfect place for diners to enjoy a taste of that history during a pre-show meal or a refreshing nightcap after a long day.
The Blue Bar Restaurant and Lounge
The Blue Bar opened in 1933 following the demise of Prohibition and has since become a New York City mainstay. Here, Broadway stars once sipped on stiff drinks and chatted it up under the cooling glow of azure-hued lighting. Although the blue gels that once covered the lights have been swapped out for a swanky, cobalt-colored bar backdrop instead, the expertly crafted cocktails remain, from Vicious Circle classics. In addition to after-theatre drinks, guests can also enjoy an array of American dishes with a modern twist while admiring artwork by Algonquin regular, Al Hirschfeld, one of the most influential caricaturists in history.
Blue Bar is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week. For an especially memorable meal, plan to dine on one of the restaurant's two live music nights, Cabaret Tuesdays and Rat Pack Piano Thursdays.
The Lobby Lounge
Resplendent in jewel tones and Edwardian accents, The Lobby Lounge in The Algonquin Hotel’s restored lobby fuses historical charm and modern sensibilities to stunning effect. Intimate seating offers a comfortable place to enjoy some casual conversation, a light bite to eat, and a perfectly mixed cocktail following a day filled with business meetings or big-city adventures.
