Visit the well-preserved Eckley Miners’ Village an hour from the lodge. The village dates to the mid ß1800s, but was preserved in order to film the movie The Molly Maguires in the 1970s. Upon the completion of filming, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission took over management of the town. Twenty residents remain—most descendants of the original miners.

Admire the beautiful orchids and other rare flowers at Tannersville Cranberry Bog. The Tannersville Cranberry Bog is a nature conservatory created on the site of a former glacier that developed long ago during the most recent Ice Age. This unique setting has preserved a unique and delicate ecosystem, which is irreplaceable. The bog is a half-hour drive from the lodge.
