• Visit The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA). The Museum maintains a permanent collection of more than 4,500 works by local, regional, national, and international artists. SAMA Bedford is located in the 200-year-old landmark Anderson House, which is now a state-of-the-art museum featuring eight galleries exhibiting a wide variety of artwork.
• Explore Shawnee Lake at Shawnee State Park. A scenic 20-minute drive from the resort will bring guests to the 3,983-acre park, with recreational opportunities perfect for any season. Guests are encouraged to hike, bike, picnic, swim, boat, fish, hunt, play disc golf, cross-country ski, sled, snowmobile, ice fish, and ice skate.
• Travel to the Flight 93 National Memorial, 30 miles east of Omni Bedford Springs Resort. While this excursion may be a somber one, it is part of the country's history and commemorates the events of an unforgettable day. The 40 passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 saved the nation from an attack on the U.S. Capitol Building when they fought their hijackers on September 11, 2001.
• Take in the views of the beautiful Bedford County with a self-guided covered bridges tour. Bedford County is well known for its 14 covered bridges, such as the Bowser Covered Bridge, Snook's Covered Bridge, and the Hewitt Covered Bridge. Built approximately a century ago by craftsmen who worked almost entirely by hand, these structures withstand the rain, snow, and hard use of the traveling public.
