Take a stroll along the Big Sioux River to find the beautiful cascades at Falls Park. The park is the city’s namesake and includes the ruins of a 19th-century flour mill, as well as an observation deck.

Journey to the neighboring town of Garretson to view the magnificent glacial rock formations of Palisades State Park. Enjoy hiking and rock climbing, and learn about the lore of Jesse James at nearby Devil’s Gulch Park.

Visit the Washington Pavilion, an arts and sciences complex that was originally built as the city’s only public high school. The complex includes performing arts theaters, a science discovery center, and rotating exhibits.
