"The Captain" was to meet his bride at the Hotel Durant - Berkeley. He arrived several days in advance of his betrothed. While waiting for his bride to arrive from across the country, he passed away here at the hotel, never getting the woman of his dreams. Some have said that this "friendly" haunt still can be seen occasionally wandering the hotel searching for his true love.
