In the heart of Annapolis, Maryland, three buildings comprise the Historic Inns of Annapolis. The Governor Calvert House was built in 1727 and originally consisted of a two-story brick building with attached shed, smokehouse, and frame outbuilding. Built in 1772, the Robert Johnson House overlooks the governor’s mansion. Also constructed on Church Circle the same year, the Maryland Inn was described as “an elegant brick house in a dry and healthy part of the city.” All three inns have been updated in recent years and feature period antiques and modern amenities. The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Annapolis one of "America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations."
