From lights flickering, to items moving, to mysterious phone calls to the front desk, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Utica has experienced it all. Throughout the years, both staff and guests have experienced some form of paranormal activity while working or staying at the hotel. The front desk has received multiple phone calls with just static from a room that was never occupied during the times of the calls. When calling the room back, it would answer and have the same static sound. Lobby chandeliers would turn off while no one was near the switches and guests have claimed to see a little old housekeeper walking the halls at two o'clock in the morning, although there is no housekeeping during that time. Salt and pepper shakers and plates have moved by themselves in the main kitchen, and figures have been seen in the kitchen and on the mezzanine level.
Kris Williams, known for her tour on Syfy Channel’s Ghost Hunters as a member of the TAPS team, came to investigate Hotel Utica on Halloween 2015. Kris joined Haunts & Legends LIVE, along with Chris DiCesare of Syfy's School Spirits, to lead participants in a first time ever investigation of the haunted Hotel Utica, including the forbidden upper floors. After reviewing camera footage of the hunt, a face was spotted on the thirteenth floor, as well as voices being heard. Perhaps not enough to confirm a haunting, but Kris was very intrigued!
