The Chatham Bars Inn has hosted many illustrious guests over the years, including the likes of Henry Ford, William D. Rockefeller, and Henry Morgenthau Jr. Queen Juliana of the Netherlands even stayed at the Chatham Bars Inn upon fleeing the German Wehrmacht during World War II.

• Gaze out onto the beautiful landscape of the Tern Island Wildlife Sanctuary from the inn’s front door. This 28-acre nature preserve is located just off the shoreline and is home to all kinds of migratory birds, specifically Least and Common Terns. (Both animals are a kind of coastal-water bird.)
