The Mansion at Ocean Edge in Brewster, along the eastern coast of Massachusetts, has been inducted into Historic Hotels of America®, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing the finest historic hotels from across the United States of America

The Mansion at Ocean Edge, along with other iconic and legendary historic hotels and resorts from across the United States of America, Puerto Rico, and Washington D.C., has been recognized by Historic Hotels of America for preserving and maintaining its historic integrity, architecture, and ambiance.

To be selected for membership in Historic Hotels of America, a hotel must be at least 50 years old; has been designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark or listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places; and recognized as having historic significance.

Part of The Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club, The Mansion at Ocean Edge is rich in history and architectural integrity, earning its spot as one of the Cape’s most renowned resorts. The building’s history began in 1888 when Samuel Nickerson, a direct descendant of one of the Cape’s first settlers, decided to purchase land for a summer residence from his father-in-law, Mr. Crosby. He began construction of Fieldstone Hall in 1890 for his son Roland and his wife, where they frequently entertained guests and held lavish social events. In 1906, it tragically and mysteriously burned to the ground and Roland was left destitute, dying of illness just two weeks later. Determined as she was, Roland’s widow Addie began construction of a new residence on Fieldstone Hall’s original location a year later, and by 1912, the new home included Italian marble fireplaces and fine woodwork. In 1945, the home was sold to the LaSalette religious order and converted into a seminary. After many years, in 1980, real estate developer, Corcoran Jennison, purchased the mansion and transformed it into The Mansion at Ocean Edge. The Mansion then joined The Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in 1986.

Today, the renovated and restored mansion preserves its historic character and is recognized as one of the finest hotels on Cape Cod. Guests today will enjoy the AAA Four- Diamond-rated Victorian-style building and its spacious guestrooms.
