Mobile's Battle House Renaissance Hotel has been named 2020's "Best Historic Hotel" in the midsize category by Historic Hotels of America. Historic Hotel's Annual Awards of Excellence honor the iconic hotels working to preserve their history and heritage. “These 2020 winners include the finest legendary and iconic historic hotels and hoteliers from across the United States of America and from around the world,” said Lawrence Horwitz, executive vice president of Historic Hotels of America and Historic Hotels Worldwide. “We are delighted to recognize these magnificent historic hotels and their historic hoteliers for their dedication, enthusiasm, stewardship, and leadership in preserving and increasing the recognition and celebration of these historic, cultural and heritage treasures and their stories.”
“This is a great honor for the City of Mobile and the State of Alabama,” said Margo Gilbert, general manager of the Battle House. “Our hotel blends the best in historic architecture and exceptional service provided by the best hospitality experts you will find anywhere,” said Gilbert. “The Retirement Systems of Alabama and Dr. David G. Bronner brought the Battle House back to life in 2007 after a massive restoration,” Gilbert said in a release announcing the honor. “This award acknowledges the effort put in by our team to provide world-class hospitality experiences in downtown Mobile during an unprecedented year.”
The Battle House Renaissance is a stunning display of such efforts. Located in downtown Mobile, this historic beauty has been a favorite destination since its opening in 1852. This is American stately decadence at its finest, complete with grand pianos, crystal ballrooms and extravagant architectural design. Famously known as "Mobile`s Living Room," this gorgeous southern gem has drawn famous political dignitaries and celebrities for years. The Battle House Renaissance boasts 238 rooms including 31 suites, 28,000 square feet of meeting space, a 10,000 square foot European spa, and a rooftop oasis featuring a pool bar, two large pools, a tennis court, and a golf cage range. With the addition of three mouthwatering restaurants, including The Trellis Room, Mobile’s only AAA Four Diamond restaurant, this hotel is an absolute must to experience.
