Piemonte, a gourmand’s paradise, and Portofino, the crown jewel of the majestic Ligurian coast, provide an ideal combination of earthly goodness and unearthly glamour that encapsulates Italy.

With towns like Barolo and Barbaresco—not to mention its famous truffles—it’s easy to understand why Piemonte is a gourmand’s paradise. And, as with most places whose livelihood is so closely tied to the land, the people here are down-to-earth (pardon the pun), and the countryside as beautiful as it is bountiful. Across the mountains to the south lies the majestic Ligurian coast, whose crown jewel is Portofino, seaside home to glitterati and the yachting crowd. Together they provide an ideal combination of earthly goodness and unearthly glamour that in many ways encapsulates Italy.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 | Barolo & Rolling Roero
After meeting the group in Turin, the journey begins in the hills of Barolo Langhe for the first walk along trails and through world-renowned vineyards from Monforte d’Alba to Novello and Barolo. Guests will have their first taste of Piemonte’s famous cuisine before strolling down to village of Barola. Later guests will participate in a hands-on cooking lesson, at the hotel Villa Tiboldi in Canale, before enjoying these delicious creations in the villa’s dining room.

Day 2| Barolo & Rolling Roero
The morning begins with a walk down to the lively town of Canale and then up through beautiful vineyards to the pearched town of Cisterna d’Asti. After observing how nougat-makers and tailors create their hand-made art, guests will enjoy lunch before resuming their walk along rolling roads and footpaths.

Day 3 | The Alta Langa
Drive into Alta Langa before walking along the ridges and meeting a local trifulao (truffle hunter) and his dog as they search for the famous local truffle, the “white gold of Alba.” After concluding the day’s eight mile hike, guests will head to the hotel for downtime before dining in the hotel’s Michelin-starred dining room.

Day 4| Portofino & the Riviera
