With stops in Louisville and New Madrid, the Memphis to Cincinnati - 10-Day Journey showcases the best of America – friendly people, beautiful scenery, and unimposing cityscapes. This experience begins on the Lower Mississippi River and cruises north before entering the Ohio River.
Day 1: Hotel Stay - Memphis, TN Guests will enjoy a one-night luxury hotel stay at the Sherton Memphis Downtown before boarding the American Queen Steamboat the following evening.
Day 2: Embark - Memphis, TN Explore the vibrant offerings of Memphis and take in the sights and sounds of the city. In the afternoon, guests will board the American Queen Steamboat to being the voyage and kick off the festivities with a Welcome Aboard Dinner.
Day 3: River Cruising Relax and take in the view of the river or join in a variety of onboard activities while the American Queen glides through beautiful American landscape.
Day 4: New Madrid, MO Relive the battle and siege of New Madrid through the eyes of local soldiers with a visit and presentation at the Hunter-Dawson Historic Site. With the hop on-hop off deluxe steamcoach, explore the new 120-foot New Madrid Observation Deck and view the 20-mile-long Bessie Bend at the. Next, enjoy shopping downtown and experience how the culture is reflected in this ever changing river town from the Mississippian Indian period at the New Madrid Historical Museum. The tour also include stops to Veteran’s Park, the New Madrid County Courthouse, the cypress-framed antebellum mansion of the Hunter-Dawson State Historical Society, and the oldest house in New Madrid, the Hart-Stepp House Art Gallery.
Day 5: Paducah, KY Known as the city of art, rhythm, and rivers, Paducah is a lovely city boasting 19th century architecture, specialty shops, and one-of-a-kind eateries. Once aboard the hop on-hop off deluxe Steamcoach, guests will stop at various cultural and historic attractions, many dedicated to preserving the heritage of the river, railroad and highlights of western Kentucky role in the War Between the States. Tour stops include the National Quilt Museum, the River Discovery Center, Paducah Railroad Museum, Paducah Civil War, and William Clark Market House Museum, which narrates the history of Paducah’s growth.
Day 6: Henderson, KY Henderson exhibits the best qualities of an historic southern river town: a flourishing community, thriving downtown, historic turn-of-the-century mansions overlooking the river, and a recently renovated riverfront. Home to famed naturalist John James Audubon, the town celebrates his famous bird paintings with eight bronze bird statues throughout the city.
Day 7: River Cruising Enjoy onboard activities and refined dining aboard the American Queen while taking in the panoramic views of America's great landscape.
Day 8: Louisville, KY Since its frontier founding at the time of the American Revolution, Louisville has always been a cultural hub, balancing a sense of history with an ability to re-invent itself as the city of originals. A Hop On-Hop Off Steamcoach will transport guests throughout the city to explore its refined attractions and historic landmarks. Tour sights include Louisville’s Visitor Center, boxing cultural attraction Muhammad Ali Center, Kentucky Museum of Arts and Crafts, the Louisville Slugger Bat Factory, and the Frazier International Military Museum. Guests are encouraged to visit The Glass Work and Muth's Candy Store to delight in sensory stimulation or stroll down Fourth Street Live to experience premium dining, entertainment, and shopping.
Day 9: Madison, IN With the Steamcoach, guests will explore the highlights of the beautiful southern Indian town of Madison, including the 19th century Schroeder Saddletree Factory Museum, the ornate Broadway Fountain, a tour of the The Lanier Mansion, and various family-owned and operated businesses. In the evening, the Steamcoach will escort guests to the Thomas Family Winery for a night of wine tasting and Celtic music.
Day 10: Disembark - Cincinnati, OH Though the journey ends in Cincinnati, if time permits, guests are encouraged to linger and learn about Cincinnati’s culture with a visit to a settler’s cabin or the famous Rookwood Pottery Factory for a souvenir.
