Since its opening in 1920, the hotel has offered refined cuisine and beverages that have cultivated a magnetized reputation. From traditional Afternoon Tea at the Palm Court to acclaimed Bookbinders Red Snapper Soup at Coq d’Or, The Drake Hotel ensures that every meal is memorable.

Coq d’Or
A classic Chicago haunt, the historic Coq d’Or is a legendary bar that opened to an eager crowd after the repeal of Prohibition, on December 6, 1933. The reinvented menu, with a new take on traditional drinks and dishes of the decades, is an eighty year journey through the history of The Drake Hotel. Coq d’Or remains a popular meeting place for locals and hotel guests of the historic Chicago hotel, servicing executive-sized cocktails, wines, beers, and classic comfort foods.

Palm Court
For those who love their afternoon teas fresh, colorful, fragrant and steeped in history, Palm Court at The Drake, a Hilton Hotel, serving tea for nearly a century in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, is the quintessential Magnificent Mile afternoon tea experience. The tradition was introduced in 1840 by the Seventh Duchess of Bedford. Since its establishment, The Drake Hotel has welcomed numerious luminaries including Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth, and the Empress of Japan. Guests can experience traditional Afternoon Tea by sipping on Palm Court’s own blend of custom-made tea while enjoying an arrangement of gourmet finger sandwiches; delicious from scratch breads and scones; and dainty petit fours with accoutrement complements of house made preserves, lemon curd and English double Devon cream prepared by pastry chef Claire Crenshaw. The Palm Court is happy to accommodate dietary needs, including vegetarian and gluten-free menus.

Café on Oak
Start the day with a warm a la carte breakfast menu served in Café on Oak, the only beachy, breakfast nook overlooking Lake Michigan in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Enjoy a simplistic selection of high taste breakfast items – the petit waffles, avo-toast or egg skillet - and sip on a frothy cappuccino. Take in a bit of history counter-side, where Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio carved their initials, shortly after their marriage over 50 years ago.

Espression by Lavazza
Located in the promenade of The Drake, Espression by Lavazza boasts an energetic color palette and high-style Italian furnishings complemented by dramatic artwork. Traditional coffee specialties such as expresso and cappuccino are crafted with the finest ingredients. The breakfast and lunch menu goes above and beyond, offering seasonally, fresh hearty artesian sandwiches, salads and a tempting variety of fresh breads, croissants, muffins and cookies. This is the perfect place to grab some extra energy before exploring the Magnificent Mile.
