Not only was the estate built with Italian and European architectural aesthetics, but it also adapted the gardens to Florida’s subtropical ecoregion. Combining imported French and Italian garden layouts with Cuban limestone paths and Floridian coral elements, the garden was planted with sub-tropical and native plants that thrive in the ecosystem.
