Since Safety Harbor Resort and Spa was founded in 1925, it has been known as a treasured place “where healing waters flow™” and served as the gracious host of guests from around the world, including the renowned magician, Harry Houdini, athletes, and department store owners, F.W. Grant and Russ Kresge. In 1539, Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto discovered the natural springs, naming them Espiritu Santo Springs, or “Springs of the Holy Spirit,” with the belief that he had discovered the elusive Fountain of Youth.
