  • Explore the charming French countryside surrounding Château de Chailly. Château de Chailly is a good starting point for a bike tour of the area’s picturesque villages with its small traffic-free roads. Rental bikes are available at the hotel. Or take a leisurely boat ride on the Burgundy canal, an iconic waterway dating to the 17th century. Burgundy Canal flows across the entire French department of Côte-d'Or, from the Saône, to the Yonne.

  • Visit nearby Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France." Located on a rocky outcrop, the village can be seen from afar but is definitely worth a closer look. Admire the beautiful ancient houses that were built by wealthy entrepreneurs. The village’s superb medieval fortress is also a popular attraction. The fortress is one of the last examples of Burgundian military architecture from the 14th century.

  • Take the hotel’s fully-restored vintage Citroën out for a day to explore the Auxois region. This region includes Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, a medieval town known for the famous sweets Anis de Flavigny. The Auxois region is also home to Fontenay Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Musée et Parc Buffon, a historic monument and home of 18th-century naturalist George-Louis Leclerc, Count of Buffon.
