The Moorish Revival Casa Monica Resort & Spa has long been the heart of St. Augustine. Once owned by railroad pioneer, hotel magnate, and Standard Oil co-founder Henry Flagler, this majestic St. Augustine, Florida resort has been a landmark of the historic city since 1888. The Depression forced the hotel to close in 1932, and it remained vacant until 1968 when it was dedicated as the St. John’s County Courthouse. In 1997, the building underwent yet another conversion, to reopen in early 2000 as a luxury hotel. The iconic St. Augustine hotel features a lobby that boasts hand-painted, gold-leafed archways and rich Spanish tapestries. While offering state-of-the-art amenities, each intimate guestroom is appropriately appointed with furnishings that reflect the rich history of the community.
